What Are The Common Materials Used For Waterproof Membranes?

Leave a message

Common materials for waterproof membranes can be mainly divided into the following categories, each with its own characteristics and applicable scenarios:

Material Category | Main Types | Core Characteristics and Common Applications

Fluoride/TPU Type | Fluorides, Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) | Achieves waterproof and breathable properties through micropores or the lotus leaf effect; commonly used in mobile phone screens, optical lenses, and outdoor clothing.

PVC Type | Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Waterproof Membrane | Economical and durable; suitable for waterproofing and insulation of building roofs and steel roofs.

Asphalt Type | Roofing Felt, Self-Adhesive Rubber Asphalt Waterproof Felt | Traditional waterproofing materials, mostly used for building roof waterproofing; requires additional insulation materials.

PE Type | High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (EVA) | Strong environmental adaptability; HDPE is puncture-resistant, LDPE is low-temperature resistant, and EVA has good elasticity; widely used in water conservancy projects, building moisture-proofing, and chemical seepage prevention.

Other breathable membranes: Polypropylene (PP), e-PTFE, and Kedebang composite membranes. Focused on waterproof and breathable properties, used in industrial filtration, outdoor clothing, medical protection, and building exteriors.
