Waterproof Membrane Maintenance And Care

Leave a message

Maintaining and caring for waterproof membranes is actually not difficult; the core principles are threefold: regular cleaning, avoiding damage, and timely repair. While the specific waterproof membranes may differ depending on the application (e.g., roofs, bathrooms, walls), the basic principles remain the same. Below, I've outlined the specific methods:

Regular Cleaning and Inspection

Cleaning Frequency: It is recommended to clean every quarter or semi-annually. Increase the inspection frequency after rainy seasons, strong winds, or sandstorms.

Cleaning Method: Gently scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush or sponge using clean water and a neutral detergent. For stubborn stains, use a specialized cleaner locally. Never use strong acids, strong alkalis, or cleaners containing bleach.

Inspection Points: Focus on checking the membrane surface for cracks, damage, bubbles, delamination, and whether the seams are properly sealed. Address any small problems promptly to prevent them from escalating.

Avoid Physical and Chemical Damage

Physical Protection: Strictly avoid scratching with sharp objects. Avoid placing heavy objects on the membrane surface or performing operations that may cause impact. Use soft tools such as rubber mallets for maintenance.

Chemical Protection: Avoid direct contact between the waterproof membrane and chemicals such as greases, solvents, strong acids, and strong alkalis. These substances will corrode the membrane material and damage its waterproof performance. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water.
